Good evening,
I just wanted to take a quick minute to reach out to the parents of the U5 division to do a call out for a head coach and on ice helpers for this group. As U5 is purely about learning to skate and learning some very beginner hockey skills (there will be no games) - this is a perfect opportunity for someone new to the hockey world to start out their coaching journey. Without coaches and volunteers on the ice, this division cannot run so please consider taking this on. I would ideally like to see as much help on the ice as we can get to help the kids just starting out in this age group. As of today, we have 19 kids registered into U5 - so the more people willing to help, the better!!
As previously mentioned if you have a 2021 born child that is registered in the program, please plan to be on the ice with them. You will need to submit a criminal record check and take an online course - respect in sport. To take the course, you will have to start a spordle account and you will be able to sign up for courses from there. Please see my previous email I had sent with more details on how to sign up for courses or what is required. If you are having issues or have any questions, please reach out to me.
This division doesn't get started until mid October so just wanted to leave parents some time to think about coaching/coming on the ice and to have time to get your criminal records into the bmha office and take the online course. Now is also a really good time to take some of the higher level coaching courses, I find as kids get older and busier it gets harder to fit those courses in. Some things to think about!
Thank you!!
