U5 Information
*Important information for U5 parents*
We are looking at a tentative start date of the weekend of October 15. It will run one day on a weekend morning for 45 minutes and the U5's will be sharing the ice with the U7 sharks - They will get one half of the ice and the sharks will get the other half. Please ensure your child has full hockey gear - Jock/Jill, shin guards, hockey socks, hockey pants, chest protector, elbow pads, neck guard, gloves, helmet, sharpened skates, hockey bag, stick and a water bottle. They will receive jerseys but always a good idea to have an extra one in the bag just in case. If you could also put your child's name on a piece of hockey/masking tape to the front of the helmet that would be very helpful in getting know your child's name.
We want to encourage parents to please take the 2 online courses HCR 3.0 - Hockey Canada Registry and Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Activity Leaders - Getting Started (respectgroupinc.com) and come on the ice with your children for the first little bit to help get them going. This allows the coaches to coach skating drills and your child to receive one on one help from their parent. It usually doesn't take long for kids at this age to learn but the more help coaches can get on the ice, the better. If you haven't already started a spordle account please go here: Spordle My Account - this will keep track of the certifications you receive. Along with the 2 quick online courses, you will also be required to do a criminal record check.
